Drinks worth the making.
Time worth the taking.

From the past we honour,
to the future we build.
That’s the shift.
And it’s worth it.

What started as a shared love of good beer turned into a calling that’s taken everything we’ve got, and given back even more. From crisp Helles in Munich to bold IPAs in California, we fell for the craft - the balance, the patience, the reward. But back home, choice was thin. The Wood, Suzanne’s family farm in Bellaghy, was quiet. Both needed new life. So, we put our hands to it.

In 2015, Mal swapped sales calls for brewing tanks, joining Boundary Brewery in Belfast to learn the ropes. It wasn’t glamorous; long hours, heavy lifting, endless cleaning, but it was honest work. The kind that leaves you tired in the right way. By 2019, that graft turned into Heaney Brewery, built on The Wood itself. Land that’s been in Suzanne’s family for generations, farmed by her dad, Hugh Heaney, brother of Seamus, and still rooted in that same belief that what’s worthwhile is rarely easy. Hugh's passing made it clear: keeping this place alive mattered.

Now, the farm beats with new life. The clatter of kegs, the chatter of kids, the rhythm of a farm reimagined. We brew beer that’s shaped by this land, this life, and the belief that what’s worthwhile is rarely easy.

Because worthwhile is what Heaney stands for.

Drinks worth the making.

Time worth the taking.

A legacy worth celebrating and preserving.

Every pint carries that truth: nothing worthwhile comes easy. But when you pour a Heaney, you’ll taste why it’s worth it.
